Bright, citrusy, and impossibly refreshing, this lemonade gets an aromatic upgrade from a lime zest–infused agave syrup that takes just minutes to pull together on the stovetop. The steeping step is the secret — letting the zest sit in the warm syrup draws out every bit of fragrant citrus oil before it's strained away, leaving behind a silky, flavor-packed base. Fresh-squeezed lemon juice brings the tartness, while the agave keeps things naturally sweet without any refined sugar. The whole thing comes together in a single pitcher, which makes it just as easy to batch up for a crowd as it is to pour a solo glass over ice on a hot afternoon. Every ingredient here is clean and plant-based, so there's zero guesswork about what's in your glass — no condiments, no hidden additives, nothing that doesn't belong in a great lemonade. A few slices of lemon or lime on the rim make it look like something you'd pay too much for at a café, but this one costs almost nothing to make at home.

Combine the agave syrup, 1/2 cup water, and lime zest in a small saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the agave is fully dissolved, about 2–3 minutes. Remove from heat and let the syrup steep for 15 minutes so the lime zest infuses fully.
Pour the syrup through a fine-mesh strainer into a pitcher, pressing the zest lightly to extract all the liquid. Discard the solids.
