This vibrant cocktail is the kind of drink that makes a warm afternoon feel like a celebration. A homemade berry syrup — built from fresh or frozen mixed berries, sugar, and water — gets simmered down and strained into a jewel-toned liquid that adds a fruity depth you simply can't get from a bottle. Blanco tequila, freshly squeezed grapefruit juice, and a hit of lime bring that classic paloma brightness, while a pinch of salt ties everything together in the best possible way. The whole thing gets topped with chilled sparkling water for a fizzy, refreshing finish that feels genuinely special without requiring any bartending experience. Every single ingredient here is naturally free from mustard and mustard derivatives, so there's no label-scanning or substitution stress involved — just clean, straightforward flavors. Serve it over ice with a few fresh berries and a citrus wedge on the rim, and it looks as good as it tastes. This is the kind of cocktail you'll want to make on repeat all season long.

Combine the berries, sugar, and water in a small saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves and the berries break down and release their juices, about 4–5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes.
Press the berry mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a small bowl or jar, pressing firmly on the solids to extract as much syrup as possible. Discard the solids. You should have about 3–4 tbsp of berry syrup.
