There is something genuinely refreshing about a drink that feels special without relying on anything you'd need to second-guess while nursing. This sparkling sipper gets its sweetness from Medjool dates simmered down into a silky syrup with fresh ginger — no refined sugar, no artificial flavors, nothing that raises an eyebrow. The brightness comes from real squeezed lemon juice, and the whole thing is topped off with plain sparkling water for that satisfying fizz. Ginger has long been a go-to for soothing an unsettled stomach, which makes this an especially appealing choice during the postpartum months when your body is still finding its rhythm. The syrup comes together in about five minutes on the stovetop, so it's low-effort even on the most exhausted of days. Garnish with a mint sprig and a lemon slice and it looks like something you ordered at a nice café — because sometimes you deserve that little moment of feeling put-together.

Combine the pitted dates, water, and sliced ginger in a small saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a gentle simmer and cook, stirring occasionally, until the dates are completely soft and beginning to break apart, about 5 minutes.
Remove from the heat and let the mixture cool for 10 minutes, then press it through a fine-mesh strainer into a small bowl or jar, pressing firmly on the solids to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard the solids. You should have about 1/4 cup of ginger-date syrup.
