The Mold Detox diet is cautious about nuts because badly stored nuts can carry mold, but fresh walnuts are likely tolerated by many on this diet. Buy nuts that look and smell fresh, and keep opened packages in the fridge or freezer. If you prefer to always avoid walnuts, please tap it and change its rating to Red.

Dried red pepper flakes can sometimes contain mold toxins, but the trace amount used here is so small that it is likely tolerated by many. When possible, use a recently purchased organic spice and store it tightly closed in a cool, dry place. If you prefer to always avoid red pepper flakes, please tap it and change its rating to Red.

Dried black pepper can sometimes contain mold toxins, but the trace amount used here is so small that it is likely tolerated by many. Position an oven rack 6 inches from the broiler element and preheat the broiler to high. Place the whole red bell peppers on a baking sheet, rub them with 1 tbsp olive oil, and broil for 18–22 minutes, turning with tongs every 5–6 minutes, until the skins are deeply charred and blistered on all sides and the peppers have collapsed.
Transfer the charred peppers to a mixing bowl, cover tightly with a plate or plastic wrap, and let them steam for 10 minutes — this loosens the skins.
