Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on two sides.
Toss the chopped pecans with the neutral oil and 1/8 tsp fine salt on a small baking sheet. Spread in a single layer and roast for 7–9 minutes, until fragrant and lightly golden — watch closely in the last 2 minutes, as they can brown quickly. Remove from the oven and set aside to cool.
