Combine the plant-based milk, turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, black pepper, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and cardamom (if using) in a small saucepan over medium heat, whisking until the spices are fully dissolved and the mixture is steaming, about 3–4 minutes. Do not let it boil.
Remove the saucepan from the heat and pour the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer into a heatproof container or measuring cup to remove any undissolved spice particles.
