Black pepper can worsen reflux in some people, but the small amount in this recipe (~1/8 teaspoon per serving) is likely tolerated by many with GERD. If you prefer to always avoid black pepper, please tap it and change its rating to Red.

Scallions are the mildest of the onion family, and only a small amount is used here. That is likely fine for most people with GERD. If you prefer to always avoid scallions, please tap it and change its rating to Red.
Fresh chives appears here only as an optional add-on, and the recipe uses just about 1 tablespoon per serving, which is likely fine for most people with GERD. If you prefer to always avoid fresh chives, please tap it and change its rating to Red.
Whisk together the chickpea flour, water, nutritional yeast, baking powder, turmeric, black salt, black pepper, and 1/2 tbsp of the olive oil in a mixing bowl until completely smooth with no lumps. Let the batter rest for 5 minutes so the chickpea flour fully hydrates — it should be pourable and slightly thicker than heavy cream.
Heat the remaining 1/2 tbsp olive oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium heat until shimmering. Add the red bell pepper and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened, about 3 minutes. Add the scallion greens and spinach and cook, stirring, until the spinach is wilted, about 1 minute more. Season with the salt, then transfer the filling to a small bowl and wipe the skillet clean.
