Summer in a glass doesn't get much better than this — ripe strawberries blended smooth, bright lemon juice freshly squeezed, and fragrant basil bruised right into the pitcher so every sip carries that herby, floral note. The whole thing comes together with just a handful of real, whole ingredients and zero animal products, so it's naturally plant-based without any swaps or substitutions needed. A quick homemade simple syrup keeps the sweetness balanced and lets you dial it up or down to taste, which is something no bottled lemonade can offer. Straining the strawberry purée gives the drink a silky, vibrant texture that looks absolutely stunning poured over ice. It serves four, making it perfect for a backyard gathering, a weekend brunch, or just a slow afternoon on the porch. Garnish with extra basil and a lemon slice and it looks like something you'd pay too much for at a café — except you made it in about twenty minutes at home.

Combine 1/2 cup organic cane sugar and 1/2 cup water in a small saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is fully dissolved, about 2–3 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature, about 15–20 minutes.
Add the hulled strawberries and 1 tbsp organic cane sugar to a blender and blend until completely smooth. Pour the purée through a fine-mesh strainer into a pitcher, pressing with a spoon to extract as much liquid as possible; discard the solids.
