Bright, citrusy, and refreshingly tart, this homemade lemonade gets an unexpected lift from a lime zest–infused agave syrup that takes it well beyond the standard backyard pitcher. The simple syrup is made by gently heating agave with water and finely grated lime zest, then letting it steep so every drop picks up that floral, slightly tropical edge. Straining out the solids gives you a silky, clean base that blends beautifully with freshly squeezed lemon juice and cold water. Since every ingredient here is naturally grain-free and plant-based, there's zero guesswork about what's in your glass — no hidden additives, no processed sweeteners, just whole, recognizable components. You can easily dial the tartness up or down by adjusting the lemon juice or adding a splash more water, making it as puckery or as mellow as your crowd prefers. Poured over ice with a few citrus slices, it looks like something you'd pay too much for at a café — but it comes together in your own kitchen with almost no effort.

Combine the agave syrup, 1/2 cup water, and lime zest in a small saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the agave is fully dissolved, about 2–3 minutes. Remove from heat and let the syrup steep for 15 minutes so the lime zest infuses fully.
Pour the syrup through a fine-mesh strainer into a pitcher, pressing the zest lightly to extract all the liquid. Discard the solids.
