Tart, bright, and impossibly refreshing, this citrus drink is the kind of thing you'll want to keep a pitcher of in the fridge all week long. The secret is a quick lime zest–infused agave syrup that steeps on the stovetop, layering in a floral, aromatic depth that plain sugar water simply can't match. Fresh-squeezed lemon juice does the heavy lifting on flavor, and the whole thing comes together with just a handful of wholesome, plant-based ingredients — no hidden additives, no store-bought mystery blends. Since every component here is naturally free of tree nuts, you can sip without a second thought about cross-contact or label-reading stress. The recipe is also wonderfully flexible: add a splash more water for something lighter, or an extra squeeze of lemon if you like it punchy and sharp. Garnished with a few citrus slices over ice, it looks as good as it tastes — effortlessly pretty for a backyard gathering or a quiet afternoon at home.

Combine the agave syrup, 1/2 cup water, and lime zest in a small saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the agave is fully dissolved, about 2–3 minutes. Remove from heat and let the syrup steep for 15 minutes so the lime zest infuses fully.
Pour the syrup through a fine-mesh strainer into a pitcher, pressing the zest lightly to extract all the liquid. Discard the solids.
