Sunshine in a glass doesn't get much more refreshing than this citrus-forward lemonade, where bright lemon juice meets a fragrant lime zest–infused agave syrup for a drink that tastes genuinely homemade. The trick is steeping the lime zest right into the simple syrup, which pulls out all that aromatic, floral oil and gives the final drink a complexity you just can't get from a powder or concentrate. Agave dissolves beautifully into cold liquid, so the sweetness is smooth and even from the very first sip to the last. Every single ingredient here is naturally free from peanuts and tree nuts, with zero need to scrutinize labels or worry about shared-facility warnings. It's the kind of drink that looks stunning over ice with a few citrus slices floating on top, whether you're serving it at a backyard gathering or just treating yourself on a warm afternoon. You can easily dial the tartness or sweetness up or down to suit your crowd, making it as crowd-pleasing or as puckery as you like.

Combine the agave syrup, 1/2 cup water, and lime zest in a small saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the agave is fully dissolved, about 2–3 minutes. Remove from heat and let the syrup steep for 15 minutes so the lime zest infuses fully.
Pour the syrup through a fine-mesh strainer into a pitcher, pressing the zest lightly to extract all the liquid. Discard the solids.
