Bright, citrusy, and genuinely refreshing, this lemonade gets an unexpected lift from a lime zest–infused agave syrup that makes it taste like so much more than the average glass of lemonade. Steeping the zest directly in the warm syrup pulls out all that fragrant, floral oil before it ever hits the pitcher, which is what gives the final drink such a vivid, layered flavor. Fresh-squeezed lemon juice does the heavy lifting here — no concentrates, no shortcuts — and the result is tart, bright, and perfectly balanced. Every single ingredient in this recipe is naturally free from lupin and lupin-derived additives, so there's no label-scanning required and no hidden flour blends to worry about. It's also fully plant-based, relying on agave instead of honey for sweetness, which means it works for a wide range of guests at the table. Serve it over a big pile of ice with a few citrus slices and it looks as good as it tastes.

Combine the agave syrup, 1/2 cup water, and lime zest in a small saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the agave is fully dissolved, about 2–3 minutes. Remove from heat and let the syrup steep for 15 minutes so the lime zest infuses fully.
Pour the syrup through a fine-mesh strainer into a pitcher, pressing the zest lightly to extract all the liquid. Discard the solids.
