Bright, citrusy, and genuinely refreshing, this lemonade gets an unexpected lift from a lime zest–infused agave syrup that makes it taste far more interesting than anything you'd pour from a bottle. The syrup is steeped just long enough to pull all that fragrant zest into the liquid before it's strained out, leaving behind a clean, floral sweetness that pairs beautifully with the sharp punch of fresh lemon juice. Every ingredient here is naturally plant-based and free from the iodine-containing additives and dairy products that can make seemingly simple drinks tricky to navigate. There's no salt, no seaweed-derived thickeners, no hidden surprises — just fruit, water, and agave working together exactly as they should. You can easily dial the tartness up or down by adjusting the lemon juice or adding a splash more water, so it's endlessly customizable to your taste. Serve it over a big pile of ice with a few citrus slices and it looks as good as it tastes — the kind of drink that makes a regular afternoon feel like a little occasion.

Combine the agave syrup, 1/2 cup water, and lime zest in a small saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the agave is fully dissolved, about 2–3 minutes. Remove from heat and let the syrup steep for 15 minutes so the lime zest infuses fully.
Pour the syrup through a fine-mesh strainer into a pitcher, pressing the zest lightly to extract all the liquid. Discard the solids.
