Fresh-squeezed lemon juice and a fragrant lime zest–infused agave syrup come together in a drink that tastes genuinely bright and layered, not just sweet and sour. The simple syrup is the secret here — steeping the zest in warm agave draws out those floral, citrusy oils in a way that bottled lemonade simply can't replicate. Because the whole recipe is built on fruit, water, and agave, it's naturally free of any dairy or lactose without a single substitution needed. That also means no label-reading stress, no specialty store runs, and no compromise on flavor. The tartness is totally adjustable right in the pitcher, so you can dial it up with an extra squeeze of lemon or mellow it out with a splash more cold water. Poured over ice with a few citrus slices floating on top, it looks as good as it tastes — effortlessly refreshing for a backyard gathering or just a slow afternoon at home.

Combine the agave syrup, 1/2 cup water, and lime zest in a small saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the agave is fully dissolved, about 2–3 minutes. Remove from heat and let the syrup steep for 15 minutes so the lime zest infuses fully.
Pour the syrup through a fine-mesh strainer into a pitcher, pressing the zest lightly to extract all the liquid. Discard the solids.
