Tart, citrusy, and impossibly refreshing, this lemonade gets a fragrant upgrade from a lime zest–infused agave syrup that takes just minutes to pull together. The syrup steeps long enough to draw out all the aromatic oils from the zest, giving every sip a bright, layered citrus flavor that goes way beyond your average glass of lemonade. Agave dissolves beautifully into both hot and cold liquids, so there's no graininess and no need for any dairy-based additions to smooth things out — it's naturally rich and balanced on its own. Fresh-squeezed lemon juice is non-negotiable here, and the recipe gives you the flexibility to dial the tartness up or down to suit your taste. Served over ice with a few citrus slices floating on top, it looks as good as it tastes — the kind of drink you'd happily set out for a crowd or just make for yourself on a slow afternoon. It's proof that the simplest ingredients, treated with a little care, can produce something genuinely special.

Combine the agave syrup, 1/2 cup water, and lime zest in a small saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the agave is fully dissolved, about 2–3 minutes. Remove from heat and let the syrup steep for 15 minutes so the lime zest infuses fully.
Pour the syrup through a fine-mesh strainer into a pitcher, pressing the zest lightly to extract all the liquid. Discard the solids.
