Some low histamine plans avoid cinnamon, but cinnamon doesn't actually contain histamine. This recipe only uses about 1/8 teaspoon per serving. If you prefer to always avoid cinnamon, please tap it and change its rating to Red.


Combine the apple chunks, water, maple syrup, cinnamon, and salt in a large saucepan over medium heat. Stir to coat the apples, then cover and cook, stirring occasionally, until the apples are completely tender and collapse easily when pressed with a spoon, about 20ā25 minutes.
Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
