Fresh turmeric and ginger are cornerstones of anti-inflammatory eating, and blending them with bright lemon juice, raw honey, and a crack of black pepper turns those humble roots into something genuinely powerful. The black pepper here is not just a seasoning choice — it contains piperine, which is widely noted for boosting the absorption of curcumin from turmeric, so every ingredient is pulling its weight. Lemon juice adds a citrusy sharpness that balances the earthy heat of the ginger, while the honey rounds everything out without tipping it into sweetness. This style of eating has long celebrated whole, minimally processed ingredients from plants, and this shot is basically that philosophy in a two-ounce glass. Blending and straining the mixture keeps the texture clean and drinkable, so you get all the flavor and benefit without chewing through fibrous pulp. A small jar of this keeps well in the fridge, making it easy to start the morning with something that actually does you good. The optional cayenne is a nice touch if you want an extra kick, but the shot holds its own beautifully without it.

Combine the turmeric, ginger, lemon juice, water, honey, black pepper, and cayenne (if using) in a blender. Blend on high for 45–60 seconds until the mixture is as smooth as possible.
Set a fine-mesh strainer over a small pitcher or jar and pour the blended mixture through it, pressing the pulp firmly with the back of a spoon to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard the remaining pulp.
