Steamed artichokes are one of those dishes that feel both rustic and a little luxurious, and this version takes things up a notch with a fragrant turmeric-ginger steaming broth that perfumes every leaf from the outside in. The artichokes are cooked stem-side up over a spiced, garlicky water bath, so by the time they're tender enough to pull apart, they've soaked up warm, earthy flavor throughout. Every ingredient here is naturally grain-free and straightforward, which means there's nothing hidden to worry about — just whole vegetables, spices, and good olive oil. The bright lemon-turmeric dipping sauce comes together in minutes and adds a zippy, slightly peppery contrast that makes dragging each leaf through it genuinely addictive. Fresh parsley stirred in at the end gives the sauce a little color and a clean herby finish. This is the kind of recipe that looks impressive on the table but asks very little of you in the kitchen.

FIELD DAY OLIVE OIL EXTRA VIRGIN

Trim the artichokes: cut off the top 1 inch of each artichoke with a sharp knife, snip the sharp tips from the outer leaves with kitchen scissors, and trim the stem to about 1 inch. Rub all cut surfaces immediately with one of the lemon halves to prevent browning.
Pour the water into a large pot and add the turmeric, ginger, smashed garlic, black pepper, salt, and the squeezed lemon halves. Set a steamer basket inside the pot — the water level should sit just below the basket. Bring to a boil over high heat.
