This vibrant, jewel-toned spritzer is the kind of drink that looks like it came from a fancy cocktail bar but comes together in your own kitchen with nothing more than a saucepan and a few fresh ingredients. Mixed berries are simmered down with honey, turmeric, cinnamon, and a pinch of black pepper into a deeply colored, warmly spiced syrup that smells absolutely incredible. The turmeric and cinnamon give it an earthy, aromatic depth that plays beautifully against the bright tartness of lemon juice and the cool effervescence of sparkling water. Muddled fresh basil adds a herbal, almost floral note that makes every sip feel a little unexpected and a lot refreshing. Every single ingredient here is naturally free of grain-based concerns — no syrups, no malt, no processed flavorings to second-guess, just whole fruits, spices, and herbs doing all the work. It's an ideal make-ahead option too, since the berry syrup can be strained and cooled in advance, leaving only the fun assembly for when guests arrive. Whether you're serving it at brunch or just treating yourself on a warm afternoon, this spritzer is genuinely hard to put down.

Combine the berries, water, honey, turmeric, cinnamon, and black pepper in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir to dissolve the honey, then cook, stirring occasionally and lightly pressing the berries against the pan, until the berries have broken down and the syrup is deep red-purple and slightly thickened, about 8–10 minutes.
Remove from heat and stir in the lemon juice. Pour the syrup through a fine-mesh strainer into a heatproof pitcher or measuring cup, pressing the solids to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard the solids. Let the syrup cool to room temperature, about 20 minutes, or speed it up by setting the pitcher in a bowl of ice water.
