Fresh strawberries muddled with lime juice and maple syrup create a vibrant, jewel-toned base that tastes like summer in a glass. Every ingredient here is whole and recognizable — no artificial preservatives, no synthetic antioxidants, just real fruit, citrus, and a touch of natural sweetness. That matters more than it might seem, because plenty of packaged drink mixes and flavored syrups quietly rely on chemical additives to extend shelf life. Making the base yourself takes about five minutes and a little elbow grease with a muddler, and the payoff is a deeply colored, intensely fruity liquid that store-bought versions simply can't match. The sparkling water gets poured slowly down the side of the glass to keep every sip effervescent, and a sprig of mint or a lime wheel on the rim makes it feel genuinely festive. It's the kind of drink you can set out at a dinner party or a weekend brunch and watch disappear before you've even sat down.

Place the strawberries, lime juice, maple syrup, and salt in the bottom of a large measuring cup or pitcher. Muddle firmly with a cocktail muddler or the handle of a wooden spoon until the strawberries are fully broken down and deeply red, about 30 seconds.
Set a fine-mesh strainer over a bowl or large measuring cup and pour the muddled mixture through it, pressing on the solids with the back of a spoon to extract as much juice as possible. Discard the solids.
