Bright, refreshing, and bursting with summer flavor, this strawberry basil lemonade is the kind of drink that makes you want to sit on a porch and do absolutely nothing productive. Fresh strawberries and fragrant basil get blended together with a honey simple syrup, then strained into a pitcher with real squeezed lemon juice for a result that tastes genuinely homemade — because it is. The honey syrup comes together in just a couple of minutes on the stovetop and adds a floral sweetness that plays beautifully against the tartness of the lemons. Avoiding cinnamon in beverages is easier than in baked goods, but store-bought flavored lemonades and fruit drinks can still sneak in unexpected spice blends or "natural flavors" — making this from-scratch version a much safer and more delicious choice. Every ingredient here is clean and straightforward, so you know exactly what's going into your glass. Serve it over a big pile of ice with a sprig of fresh basil on top and it looks almost too pretty to drink — almost.

Combine the honey and 1/4 cup water in a small saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the honey is fully dissolved, about 2 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool for 15 minutes until no longer warm to the touch.
Add the strawberries, basil leaves, and cooled honey syrup to a blender. Blend on high until completely smooth, about 30 seconds.
