This drink is the definition of summer in a glass — vibrant, fragrant, and just sweet enough to feel like a treat without going overboard. Fresh strawberries are simmered down with maple syrup until they release a gorgeous deep-pink juice, then fresh basil is steeped right into that syrup for a herbal lift that makes the whole thing feel a little fancy. The syrup gets strained smooth and combined with brewed black tea and cold water, so every sip has that perfect balance of fruity, floral, and lightly tannic. Every single ingredient here is naturally grain-free, so there's no label-checking or substitution stress — just straightforward, wholesome components that come together beautifully. It's an ideal pitcher drink for a backyard gathering, a lazy afternoon on the porch, or anytime you want something more interesting than plain iced tea. Garnish with a sprig of basil and a few strawberry slices and it looks like something straight off a café menu.

Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a medium saucepan over high heat. Remove from the heat, add the tea bags, and steep for 5 minutes. Remove and discard the tea bags, then set the brewed tea aside to cool slightly.
While the tea steeps, combine the halved strawberries, maple syrup, and 1/2 cup water in the same saucepan (or a second small saucepan) over medium heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the strawberries have softened and released their juices and the liquid is a deep pink, about 8 minutes.
