Few drinks feel as refreshing and effortlessly elegant as a homemade iced tea built around peak-season strawberries and fragrant fresh basil. The process starts with a simple black tea base, then layers in a gorgeous deep-pink syrup made by simmering strawberries with maple syrup and water until the fruit is soft and jammy. Fresh basil leaves steep right into the warm syrup, infusing it with an herbal note that makes the whole drink taste like something you'd order at a fancy café. Every single ingredient here is straightforward and naturally free from tree nuts of any kind, so there's no label-reading stress or cross-contact concern to worry about. The strained syrup blends seamlessly with the brewed tea and cold water, giving you a pitcher of something truly beautiful with very little effort. Served over ice with a sprig of basil and a few strawberry slices, it's the kind of drink that makes any afternoon feel like a special occasion.

Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a medium saucepan over high heat. Remove from the heat, add the tea bags, and steep for 5 minutes. Remove and discard the tea bags, then set the brewed tea aside to cool slightly.
While the tea steeps, combine the halved strawberries, maple syrup, and 1/2 cup water in the same saucepan (or a second small saucepan) over medium heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the strawberries have softened and released their juices and the liquid is a deep pink, about 8 minutes.
