Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels and toss in a bowl with the salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, and cayenne until evenly coated.
Heat 2 tbsp of the olive oil in a 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering. Add the shrimp in a single layer and cook undisturbed for 2 minutes, until the undersides are pink and lightly golden. Flip and cook 1 to 2 minutes more, until the shrimp are opaque throughout and reach 145°F (63°C) on an instant-read thermometer. Transfer to a plate and set aside.
