Comfort food doesn't get much more satisfying than a bubbling shepherd's pie pulled straight from the oven, and this version delivers every bit of that cozy, hearty magic. The filling is built on ground lamb slow-cooked with carrots, celery, mushrooms, and a deeply savory sauce made with coconut aminos, bone broth, and arrowroot starch — no hidden seed-based thickeners or condiments in sight. Fresh thyme, rosemary, turmeric, and ginger layer in warmth and complexity that make the whole kitchen smell incredible. Instead of the traditional potato topping, a cloud of whipped cauliflower mash — enriched with coconut oil — seals everything in and turns golden at the peaks in the oven. Swapping out conventional ingredients like Worcestershire sauce or cornstarch for cleaner alternatives means this dish works beautifully for anyone navigating seed sensitivities without sacrificing a single drop of flavor. It's the kind of recipe that feels indulgent and nourishing at the same time, perfect for a weeknight dinner or a weekend gathering where everyone at the table can dig in freely.

Preheat the oven to 400°F (205°C). Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the cauliflower florets and cook until completely tender and easily pierced with a fork, about 12–15 minutes. Drain thoroughly and return to the pot.
Add 2 tbsp of the coconut oil and 1/2 tsp salt to the drained cauliflower. Mash with a potato masher or beat with a hand mixer until smooth and creamy, with no large lumps remaining. Taste and adjust salt. Set aside.
