Comfort food doesn't have to come at a cost to your digestion, and this cauliflower-topped shepherd's pie is proof. The filling is built on ground lamb, real vegetables, and a rich sauce made with bone broth and arrowroot starch — no gluten, no mystery thickeners, just clean, nourishing ingredients that work with your gut rather than against it. Coconut aminos and a splash of apple cider vinegar add depth and a gentle tang, while turmeric and ginger bring their well-known soothing properties to every bite. Instead of the traditional mashed potato topping, cauliflower is boiled until completely tender and whipped with coconut oil into a creamy, golden-edged crown that you honestly won't miss the potatoes for. The mushrooms melt into the filling and add a savory richness that makes the whole dish feel deeply satisfying without anything heavy or hard to process. It all comes together in one oven-safe skillet, which means less cleanup and a beautiful bubbling presentation straight from the oven. Scatter some fresh parsley on top and you've got a weeknight dinner that feels like a proper Sunday meal.

Preheat the oven to 400°F (205°C). Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the cauliflower florets and cook until completely tender and easily pierced with a fork, about 12–15 minutes. Drain thoroughly and return to the pot.
Add 2 tbsp of the coconut oil and 1/2 tsp salt to the drained cauliflower. Mash with a potato masher or beat with a hand mixer until smooth and creamy, with no large lumps remaining. Taste and adjust salt. Set aside.
