Comfort food doesn't get much more satisfying than a bubbling skillet of savory lamb filling topped with a cloud of creamy mashed topping ā and this version delivers every bit of that cozy, stick-to-your-ribs energy. The swap to cauliflower mash keeps things clean and surprisingly rich, thanks to coconut oil doing the heavy lifting in place of butter or cream. Conventional versions of this dish often sneak in Worcestershire sauce, stock cubes, or thickeners that can carry hidden emulsifiers, but here the sauce gets its depth from bone broth, coconut aminos, and apple cider vinegar, with arrowroot starch as a completely straightforward thickener. Fresh thyme, rosemary, turmeric, and ginger layer in warmth and complexity so the filling tastes like it simmered all afternoon. Every ingredient is whole and recognizable, which means you can serve this without second-guessing a single label. It's the kind of recipe that proves eating with restrictions doesn't mean eating without soul.

Preheat the oven to 400°F (205°C). Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the cauliflower florets and cook until completely tender and easily pierced with a fork, about 12ā15 minutes. Drain thoroughly and return to the pot.
Add 2 tbsp of the coconut oil and 1/2 tsp salt to the drained cauliflower. Mash with a potato masher or beat with a hand mixer until smooth and creamy, with no large lumps remaining. Taste and adjust salt. Set aside.
