Comfort food doesn't get much more satisfying than a bubbling skillet of savory meat filling topped with a cloud of creamy mashed topping — and this version delivers every bit of that cozy, stick-to-your-ribs energy. Ground lamb is browned and layered with onion, carrots, celery, and mushrooms, then brought together with bone broth, coconut aminos, and a touch of apple cider vinegar for a rich, deeply savory sauce that tastes like it simmered all day. Fresh thyme, rosemary, turmeric, and ginger round out the filling with warmth and complexity, while arrowroot starch thickens everything to a glossy, spoonable consistency. The topping is made from steamed cauliflower mashed smooth with coconut oil — it spreads beautifully over the filling and bakes up with golden peaks that make the whole dish look as impressive as it tastes. Because every ingredient here is naturally free of stimulants like coffee, tea, or chocolate, you can serve this to anyone avoiding caffeine without a second thought or a label to scrutinize. It's the kind of wholesome, from-scratch dinner that works just as well for a quiet weeknight as it does for feeding a crowd on a cold weekend afternoon.
