Comfort food doesn't get much more satisfying than a bubbling skillet of savory meat filling crowned with a cloud of creamy mashed topping — and this version delivers every bit of that cozy, stick-to-your-ribs feeling without a single artificial flavor in sight. Ground lamb is browned until deeply caramelized, then simmered with carrots, celery, mushrooms, and a fragrant blend of fresh thyme, rosemary, turmeric, and ginger, so the flavor comes entirely from real ingredients you can actually pronounce. Coconut aminos and apple cider vinegar add a subtle savory depth that you might usually get from processed sauces loaded with additives — here, it's completely clean. The topping swaps traditional potato for cauliflower mashed smooth with coconut oil, which keeps the whole dish free from anything synthetic while still achieving that pillowy, golden-peaked finish you expect from a proper shepherd's pie. Arrowroot starch thickens the bone broth sauce naturally, so there's no need for cornstarch blends or flavor-enhanced bouillon cubes that often sneak in unwanted extras. This is the kind of recipe that proves eating without artificial additives doesn't mean sacrificing depth, richness, or the kind of dinner that makes everyone at the table go back for seconds.

Preheat the oven to 400°F (205°C). Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the cauliflower florets and cook until completely tender and easily pierced with a fork, about 12–15 minutes. Drain thoroughly and return to the pot.
Add 2 tbsp of the coconut oil and 1/2 tsp salt to the drained cauliflower. Mash with a potato masher or beat with a hand mixer until smooth and creamy, with no large lumps remaining. Taste and adjust salt. Set aside.
