Bright, tangy, and beautifully ruby-red, this sparkling drink is the kind of thing that looks like it came from a fancy cocktail bar but comes together with nothing more than fresh fruit, citrus, and a little maple syrup. The homemade raspberry syrup is the real star — simmered until deep and jammy, then strained into a silky liquid that layers perfectly under fresh lemon juice and chilled sparkling water. Because every ingredient here is whole and unprocessed, you sidestep the synthetic preservatives and chemical additives that sneak into so many store-bought mixers, sodas, and flavored syrups. That matters more than people realize, since parabens and similar compounds often hide in "natural flavor" blends and shelf-stable concentrates. Squeezing your own lemons and making the syrup from scratch keeps everything clean and completely in your control. A sprig of fresh mint and a lemon wheel on the rim make it feel genuinely celebratory, whether you're serving it at a summer gathering or just treating yourself on a Tuesday afternoon.

Combine the raspberries, water, and maple syrup in a small saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring occasionally and pressing the berries against the side of the pan with a spoon, until the raspberries have completely broken down and the liquid is deep red and slightly thickened, about 6–8 minutes.
Pour the raspberry mixture through a fine-mesh strainer set over a heatproof bowl or measuring cup, pressing firmly on the solids with the back of a spoon to extract as much syrup as possible. Discard the solids. Let the syrup cool to room temperature, about 20 minutes, or speed it up by setting the bowl over an ice bath.
