Bright, tangy, and flushed with the color of fresh summer berries, this homemade lemonade is the kind of drink that makes you want to sit on a porch and do absolutely nothing productive. The raspberry syrup is made from scratch by simmering fresh berries with maple syrup and water, then straining out the solids for a silky, jewel-toned concentrate that tastes nothing like the artificial stuff. Fresh-squeezed lemon juice brings the pucker, and the whole thing comes together in a big pitcher with cold water — no powders, no concentrates, no preservatives hiding in the mix. That matters more than you might think, since many store-bought lemonades and flavored syrups sneak in additives that can be hard to spot on a label. Every ingredient here is exactly what it says it is: fruit, citrus, a natural sweetener, and water. You can dial the sweetness or tartness up or down at the end, which makes it genuinely easy to get right for your own taste. Garnish with mint and lemon slices and it looks like something from a restaurant menu — no effort required.

Combine the raspberries, maple syrup, and 1/2 cup water in a small saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring occasionally and pressing the raspberries against the side of the pan with a spoon, until the berries have completely broken down and the syrup is a deep pink-red, about 6–8 minutes.
Pour the raspberry mixture through a fine-mesh strainer set over a bowl or measuring cup, pressing firmly on the solids to extract as much syrup as possible. Discard the solids. Let the syrup cool to room temperature, about 15 minutes.
