Few things hit harder on a warm day than a glass of genuinely fresh lemonade, and this raspberry version takes it somewhere really special. The deep pink-red color alone is enough to make everyone in the room ask what you're drinking. What makes this recipe stand out is the homemade raspberry syrup — fresh berries are simmered down with maple syrup and water until they collapse into something rich, fragrant, and naturally sweet. Maple syrup does all the heavy lifting here, so there's no corn-derived sweetener anywhere in the glass, which is surprisingly hard to avoid in store-bought lemonades and flavored drink mixes. Once the syrup is strained and cooled, it comes together with freshly squeezed lemon juice and cold water in minutes. You can dial the tartness and sweetness to your exact taste before pouring over ice, which means this pitcher is endlessly adjustable. Garnish with lemon slices and a sprig of mint and it looks like something from a restaurant menu.

Combine the raspberries, maple syrup, and 1/2 cup water in a small saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring occasionally and pressing the raspberries against the side of the pan with a spoon, until the berries have completely broken down and the syrup is a deep pink-red, about 6–8 minutes.
Pour the raspberry mixture through a fine-mesh strainer set over a bowl or measuring cup, pressing firmly on the solids to extract as much syrup as possible. Discard the solids. Let the syrup cool to room temperature, about 15 minutes.
