Tart raspberries, bright lemon, and a touch of natural sweetness come together in a sparkling drink that feels genuinely celebratory without any of the usual compromises. Refined sugar is swapped out for maple syrup, which gets simmered down with fresh raspberries into a gorgeous, jewel-toned syrup that does all the heavy lifting here. Freshly squeezed lemon juice keeps things vibrant and tangy, and the whole thing gets topped off with chilled sparkling water for that satisfying fizz. It's the kind of drink that looks like it came from a fancy café but comes together with a saucepan and a strainer. Store-bought flavored sodas and lemonades are almost always loaded with cane sugar, artificial flavors, or preservatives, so having a go-to homemade version is genuinely useful. Serve it over ice with a sprig of mint and a lemon slice, and it's instantly the most beautiful thing on the table.

Combine the raspberries, maple syrup, and water in a small saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring occasionally and pressing the raspberries against the side of the pan with a spoon, until the berries have completely broken down and the syrup is slightly thickened, about 6–8 minutes.
Pour the raspberry mixture through a fine-mesh strainer set over a bowl or measuring cup, pressing firmly on the solids with the back of a spoon to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard the solids. Let the syrup cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until cold, at least 30 minutes.
