Bright, fruity, and endlessly refreshing, this sparkling drink is exactly what you want on a warm afternoon or when you need something festive without the fuss. The homemade raspberry syrup is the real star — simmered down from fresh berries and maple syrup until it's deeply flavored and beautifully ruby-red. Straining out the solids gives you a silky, jewel-toned base that mixes effortlessly with fresh-squeezed lemon juice and chilled sparkling water. For anyone navigating a low-iodine approach, store-bought flavored drinks and sodas can be surprisingly tricky, often hiding additives or colorings that aren't worth the guesswork. This one keeps things clean and completely transparent — every ingredient is whole and easy to verify, from the fresh raspberries to the maple syrup to the lemons you squeeze yourself. No dyes, no mystery syrups, no iodized salt anywhere in sight. The result is a drink that tastes like something you'd order at a nice café, but comes together in your own kitchen with minimal effort. Garnish with a sprig of mint and a lemon slice and it looks as good as it tastes.

Combine the raspberries, maple syrup, and water in a small saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring occasionally and pressing the raspberries against the side of the pan with a spoon, until the berries have completely broken down and the syrup is slightly thickened, about 6–8 minutes.
Pour the raspberry mixture through a fine-mesh strainer set over a bowl or measuring cup, pressing firmly on the solids with the back of a spoon to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard the solids. Let the syrup cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until cold, at least 30 minutes.
