Tart raspberries, bright lemon, and a touch of maple syrup come together in a sparkling drink that feels genuinely special without requiring much effort at all. The homemade raspberry syrup is the real star here — simmered down from fresh berries and strained until silky smooth, it delivers deep fruit flavor that no bottled mixer can match. That matters a lot when you're avoiding synthetic preservatives like BHA and BHT, which sneak into a surprising number of commercial syrups, flavored waters, and packaged drink mixes. Every ingredient in this cooler is straightforward and whole: fresh fruit, fresh citrus, maple syrup, and sparkling water — nothing processed, nothing questionable on the label. The syrup can be made ahead and chilled, so when it's time to serve, you're just pouring, stirring, and garnishing. Finished with lemon slices and a sprig of fresh mint, it looks like something from a café menu but comes together entirely in your own kitchen. It's the kind of drink that makes you wonder why you ever reached for a store-bought option in the first place.

Combine the raspberries, maple syrup, and water in a small saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring occasionally and pressing the raspberries against the side of the pan with a spoon, until the berries have completely broken down and the syrup is slightly thickened, about 6–8 minutes.
Pour the raspberry mixture through a fine-mesh strainer set over a bowl or measuring cup, pressing firmly on the solids with the back of a spoon to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard the solids. Let the syrup cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until cold, at least 30 minutes.
