A classic margarita is one of those drinks that should be simple, but commercial mixes are often loaded with refined sweeteners and mystery ingredients that have no business being in your glass. This version keeps things clean and genuinely delicious ā just 100% agave tequila, fresh-squeezed lime and orange juice, and a quick honey syrup you make yourself in about two minutes on the stovetop. The honey syrup is the real secret here, dissolving smoothly into the shaker and adding a floral, rounded sweetness that blows triple sec out of the water. Every ingredient is whole and recognizable, which means no seed oils, no corn syrup, and nothing you'd have to squint at a label to decode. A hard shake over ice gets everything perfectly chilled and slightly frothy before you strain it over a fresh rocks glass ā salt rim entirely optional but highly recommended. It's the kind of cocktail that tastes like it came from a great bar, except you made it at home with ingredients you actually trust.

Combine the honey and water in a small saucepan over medium-low heat, stirring until the honey is fully dissolved, about 2 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool for 2ā3 minutes before using. You will have about 3 tbsp of honey syrup; use 1 1/2 tbsp for this recipe and reserve the rest.
If rimming the glasses, run a lime wedge around the rim of each rocks glass, then press the rim into a small plate of coarse salt to coat.
