Most store-bought cocktail mixes are loaded with additives, stabilizers, and synthetic sweeteners that can be hard to avoid if you're keeping your ingredient list clean. This version skips all of that entirely, relying on nothing but 100% agave blanco tequila, freshly squeezed lime and orange juice, and a simple two-ingredient honey syrup you make yourself in about two minutes. The result is a bright, citrus-forward margarita that tastes genuinely fresh ā because it is. Shaking it hard over ice gives you that perfectly chilled, slightly frothy texture without needing any commercial sour mix or emulsified shortcuts. The honey syrup dissolves quickly on the stovetop and adds a subtle floral sweetness that balances the tartness of the lime beautifully. A salted rim and a fresh lime wedge are all the finishing touches you need to make it feel like something you'd order at a really good restaurant.

Combine the honey and water in a small saucepan over medium-low heat, stirring until the honey is fully dissolved, about 2 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool for 2ā3 minutes before using. You will have about 3 tbsp of honey syrup; use 1 1/2 tbsp for this recipe and reserve the rest.
If rimming the glasses, run a lime wedge around the rim of each rocks glass, then press the rim into a small plate of coarse salt to coat.
