Butter is almost all fat and has no fiber, so the amount here (about 2 tablespoons per serving) leaves very little residue. If you prefer to always avoid butter, please tap it and change its rating to Red.

Low residue diets limit fibrous leafy greens and herbs. Parsley is used here only as a small amount of chopped fresh herb for seasoning, so it is likely low residue. If you prefer to always avoid fresh parsley, please tap it and change its rating to Red.

Low residue diets limit citrus peel because it adds fiber and residue. The small amount of lemon zest here contributes very little, so it is likely low residue. If you prefer to always avoid lemon peel, please tap it and change its rating to Red.

Place the butter, smashed garlic cloves, thyme sprigs, and rosemary sprigs in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Let the butter melt completely, then reduce the heat to low.
Cook the butter at a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally, until the milk solids on the bottom of the pan turn golden and the foam on the surface subsides, 20–25 minutes. Watch closely during the last 5 minutes — the solids can go from golden to burnt quickly. The garlic will soften and turn lightly golden at the edges; the herbs will become fragrant and slightly crisp.
