Bright, jammy, and perfumed with warm spice, this mixed berry compote is the kind of thing you'll want to spoon over absolutely everything. Blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, or blackberries — or all four at once — simmer down with honey, fresh lemon juice, and a hint of zest into something that tastes far more special than the effort involved. Ceylon cinnamon and ground ginger give it a gentle warmth that sets it apart from a basic fruit sauce, making it feel almost luxurious. If you like a thicker, glossier finish, a quick arrowroot slurry stirred in at the end does the trick beautifully without changing the flavor. The whole thing comes together in one saucepan, and it works just as well spooned warm over yogurt or pancakes as it does cooled and tucked into a jar in the fridge for later. Naturally plant-based and built entirely from fruit, sweetener, and spice, there's nothing here to second-guess — just pure, vibrant berry flavor.

Combine the berries, honey, lemon juice, lemon zest, Ceylon cinnamon, and ginger in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Stir to coat the berries, then cook, stirring occasionally, until the berries begin to release their juices and the mixture comes to a gentle simmer, about 4–5 minutes.
Reduce the heat to medium-low and continue to cook, stirring occasionally and pressing some of the berries lightly against the side of the pan, until the compote has thickened slightly and the fruit is very soft and jammy, about 8–10 minutes. The sauce should coat the back of a spoon.
