Bright, jammy, and bursting with real fruit flavor, this berry compote is the kind of sauce that makes everything it touches taste better — from morning yogurt to evening dessert. Every bit of sweetness and complexity here comes from honest ingredients: ripe berries, honey, fresh lemon juice and zest, and warm spices like Ceylon cinnamon and ginger. There's no need for store-bought fruit sauces loaded with synthetic flavors or mystery additives when something this vibrant comes together in a single saucepan. The gentle simmer coaxes the berries into a glossy, spoonable sauce that smells absolutely incredible as it cooks down. A splash of arrowroot slurry is all it takes if you want an even thicker, more luxurious texture — no artificial thickeners required. Spoon it warm over pancakes or oatmeal, swirl it into plain yogurt, or let it cool and jar it up for the week ahead.

Combine the berries, honey, lemon juice, lemon zest, Ceylon cinnamon, and ginger in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Stir to coat the berries, then cook, stirring occasionally, until the berries begin to release their juices and the mixture comes to a gentle simmer, about 4–5 minutes.
Reduce the heat to medium-low and continue to cook, stirring occasionally and pressing some of the berries lightly against the side of the pan, until the compote has thickened slightly and the fruit is very soft and jammy, about 8–10 minutes. The sauce should coat the back of a spoon.
