Few cocktails carry the same effortless elegance as a properly made Mint Julep, and this one delivers that classic Southern charm with nothing more than fresh mint, a homemade simple syrup, and good bourbon. The syrup comes together in minutes on the stovetop and can be made well ahead of time, so you're never scrambling when guests arrive. Muddling the mint gently β just enough to bruise the leaves without tearing them β is the real secret here, releasing that bright, aromatic fragrance without any bitterness. Packed high with crushed ice and finished with a proud sprig of mint, it's as beautiful to look at as it is to sip. Every ingredient in this recipe is naturally plant-based, so there's no need to scrutinize labels or swap anything out β it's simply good as written. Whether you're hosting a Derby party or just treating yourself on a warm afternoon, this is the kind of drink that makes the moment feel like a genuine occasion.
