Few cocktails are as iconic as this Southern classic, and the good news is that every ingredient here is naturally free from the raw fruits, vegetables, and tree pollens that tend to trigger oral allergy reactions. The short ingredient list β bourbon, fresh mint, a homemade simple syrup, and crushed ice β keeps things clean and straightforward with no hidden additives to second-guess. Making your own syrup from scratch takes just a few minutes on the stovetop and means you know exactly what's going into your glass. The muddling technique is worth paying attention to: a gentle press and twist bruises the mint just enough to release its fragrance without shredding the leaves into bitter, grassy bits. Packing the cup high with crushed ice and stirring until the outside frosts over isn't just for show β it chills the bourbon beautifully and gives you that signature dewy, frosty presentation. A tucked mint sprig and a dusting of powdered sugar finish the whole thing off with a little ceremony that makes it feel genuinely special. Whether you're sipping on a warm afternoon or serving a crowd, this is a refreshing, crowd-pleasing drink that comes together with almost no effort.
