Fluffy, fragrant, and endlessly versatile, jasmine rice is one of those staples that makes every meal feel a little more complete. The Instant Pot takes all the guesswork out of it — no watching the pot, no scorched bottom, no gummy clumps — just perfectly separated grains every single time. A quick rinse under cold water before cooking is the real secret here, washing away excess starch so the finished rice stays light and distinct rather than sticky. The optional pat of butter or a splash of neutral oil adds just enough richness to make each forkful feel intentional without weighing things down. Naturally free from tree nuts and made with nothing but rice, water, salt, and an optional fat, this is as clean and straightforward as a recipe gets. It pairs beautifully with stir-fries, curries, grilled proteins, or anything saucy that deserves a proper base. Once you nail the 3-minute high-pressure cook with a 10-minute natural release, you'll never go back to the stovetop method.

Place the jasmine rice in a fine-mesh strainer and rinse under cold running water, stirring with your hand, until the water runs mostly clear, about 30–45 seconds. Drain well.
Add the rinsed rice, water, salt, and oil or butter (if using) to the Instant Pot insert. Stir briefly to combine.
