Fluffy, fragrant jasmine rice is one of those foundational dishes that makes everything else on the table shine brighter. The Instant Pot takes all the guesswork out of it — no hovering over the stove, no lifting the lid too early, no scorched bottom. Rinsing the rice first is the small but important step that removes excess starch and keeps the grains light and distinct rather than clumping together. The natural pressure release does the heavy lifting at the end, letting the rice finish cooking gently so every grain comes out perfectly tender. A little salt and a touch of oil or butter round out the flavor without overwhelming whatever you plan to serve alongside it. This is the kind of effortless, clean side dish that pairs beautifully with grilled fish, saucy shrimp, or a simple seafood stir-fry.

Place the jasmine rice in a fine-mesh strainer and rinse under cold running water, stirring with your hand, until the water runs mostly clear, about 30–45 seconds. Drain well.
Add the rinsed rice, water, salt, and oil or butter (if using) to the Instant Pot insert. Stir briefly to combine.
