Fluffy, fragrant, and endlessly versatile, jasmine rice is one of those staples that belongs in every home cook's rotation. The Instant Pot takes all the guesswork out of it — no watching the pot, no sticky bottoms, no undercooked centers. A quick rinse before cooking washes away excess starch, which is the real secret to getting those light, separated grains instead of a clumpy mess. The optional oil keeps things dairy-free by default, or you can swap in a small pat of butter if you tolerate it — either way, the result is beautifully tender rice. A natural pressure release for ten minutes does the heavy lifting, letting the grains finish steaming gently without turning mushy. Whether you're pairing it with a saucy stir-fry, a bold curry, or just eating it straight from the bowl, this method delivers consistent, restaurant-quality rice every single time.

Place the jasmine rice in a fine-mesh strainer and rinse under cold running water, stirring with your hand, until the water runs mostly clear, about 30–45 seconds. Drain well.
Add the rinsed rice, water, salt, and oil or butter (if using) to the Instant Pot insert. Stir briefly to combine.
