Hard-boiled eggs are one of those effortless, endlessly useful foods that fit into almost any eating plan, and the Instant Pot method takes them to a whole new level of consistency. The pressure-steam environment means the shells practically slide off on their own — no more fighting with stubborn bits of shell stuck to the white. That ice bath step is the real secret weapon, stopping the cooking instantly so you get a perfectly set yolk without any of that chalky gray ring. Since the entire recipe is just eggs, water, and ice, there's nothing hidden to worry about — no additives, no leavening agents, no fillers of any kind. Whether you're meal-prepping a week's worth of snacks, topping a salad, or just craving something satisfying and protein-packed, these deliver every time. Keep a batch in the fridge and you've always got a quick, clean option ready to go.

Pour 1 cup of water into the Instant Pot insert. Place the trivet or steamer basket inside. Arrange the eggs in a single layer on the trivet — they can touch but should not be stacked.
Lock the lid and set the pressure-release valve to Sealing. Cook on Manual (High Pressure) for 5 minutes. While the eggs cook, fill a large bowl with cold water and a generous amount of ice.
