Hard-boiled eggs are one of the most reliably safe, protein-packed snacks you can keep on hand, and the Instant Pot makes a dozen of them with almost zero effort. Getting eggs fully cooked through is especially important during pregnancy, and this method — five minutes at high pressure followed by a natural release — takes all the guesswork out of doneness. No more poking at shells and wondering if the center is still too soft. The ice bath step is key: it stops the cooking immediately and makes peeling genuinely easy, which means you're not wrestling with stubborn shells when you just want a quick, nourishing bite. These eggs are endlessly versatile — slice them over salads, mash them into a simple egg salad, or just sprinkle on a little salt and eat them straight from the fridge. Batch-cooking a full dozen at once means you'll have a ready protein source all week long, which is exactly the kind of low-lift meal prep that makes busy days so much easier.

Eggs are safe during pregnancy as long as they are cooked all the way through.

Pour 1 cup of water into the Instant Pot insert. Place the trivet or steamer basket inside. Arrange the eggs in a single layer on the trivet — they can touch but should not be stacked.
Lock the lid and set the pressure-release valve to Sealing. Cook on Manual (High Pressure) for 5 minutes. While the eggs cook, fill a large bowl with cold water and a generous amount of ice.
