Hard-boiled eggs sound simple enough, but getting them right — no green ring, no rubbery whites, shells that actually peel without a fight — is trickier than most people expect. The Instant Pot changes all of that by delivering consistent, controlled steam heat every single time. The five-minute pressure cook followed by a natural release and an ice bath is the kind of precise sequence that produces perfectly set yolks and tender whites you'll want to eat straight out of the bowl. Because the ingredient list is just eggs, water, and ice, there's nothing to scrutinize for hidden allergens or cross-contamination concerns — what you see is exactly what you get. These are endlessly useful to have on hand for meal prep, quick snacks, salads, or deviled eggs for a crowd. Once you try this method, boiling a pot of water on the stove is going to feel like a lot of unnecessary effort.

Pour 1 cup of water into the Instant Pot insert. Place the trivet or steamer basket inside. Arrange the eggs in a single layer on the trivet — they can touch but should not be stacked.
Lock the lid and set the pressure-release valve to Sealing. Cook on Manual (High Pressure) for 5 minutes. While the eggs cook, fill a large bowl with cold water and a generous amount of ice.
