Hard-boiled eggs are one of those kitchen staples that seem simple until you're dealing with rubbery whites, greenish yolks, or shells that tear the whole egg apart. The Instant Pot takes all of that guesswork off the table, delivering consistently cooked eggs with yolks that are fully set but still bright and creamy. The pressure-cooking method followed by a proper ice bath is what makes the difference — the shells genuinely do slip right off, which anyone who has wrestled with a fresh egg knows is basically a miracle. With just eggs, water, and ice, this recipe is as clean and straightforward as it gets, with zero hidden legumes, fillers, or additives to worry about. That matters more than people realize, since some pre-cooked or packaged egg products can include unexpected ingredients. Whether you're meal-prepping a week's worth of snacks, topping a salad, or just want a quick high-protein bite, a dozen perfectly cooked eggs ready in the fridge is never a bad idea.

Pour 1 cup of water into the Instant Pot insert. Place the trivet or steamer basket inside. Arrange the eggs in a single layer on the trivet — they can touch but should not be stacked.
Lock the lid and set the pressure-release valve to Sealing. Cook on Manual (High Pressure) for 5 minutes. While the eggs cook, fill a large bowl with cold water and a generous amount of ice.
