That gorgeous green-over-white pour is almost too pretty to stir — almost. Each serving comes together in just a few minutes with ceremonial-grade matcha whisked smooth in hot water, a touch of maple syrup, and pure vanilla extract before it meets cold milk and a full glass of ice. The slow-pour technique lets the matcha settle in a dramatic layer on top, so you get that café-worthy look right at home. Keeping the maple syrup to one tablespoon per serving and the milk to one cup keeps everything comfortably within tested thresholds, so you can sip without second-guessing the ingredient list. Cold, lightly sweet, and gently earthy, it hits that perfect balance between a matcha purist's drink and something a little more indulgent. This recipe makes two servings, so it's ideal for a morning treat with a friend or a weekend slow-start for yourself.

Place 1 tsp matcha powder in a small bowl. Add 2 tbsp hot water (175°F / 80°C) and whisk in a quick zigzag motion until the matcha is fully dissolved and no dry clumps remain, about 30 seconds. Stir in 1 tbsp maple syrup and 1/4 tsp vanilla extract until combined. Repeat with the remaining matcha, hot water, maple syrup, and vanilla in a second bowl (or rinse and reuse the same bowl) for the second serving.
Fill each tall glass with 1 cup of ice. Pour 1 cup of cold milk over the ice in each glass.
